End of June Update.

So quite a lot has happened since the end of April.

I went to Misti-Con, and it was fantastic!!!  It was my 5th Harry Potter Con, and so far it is my absolute favorite con!  I don't know if it was because I made so many amazing friends, and got to catch up with old ones (Which I do at every con really), or if it was for the fact that it was a day longer than all the other cons. Either way was unforgettable, and I can not wait for Misti-Con 2015!

A week after I returned from Misti-Con, I broke off my relationship with Patrick.  I felt really bad for haing to do it, but I felt like in order for me to figure out what the hell I was suppose to do with my life, I needed to break out of my normal routine.  Our relationship to me felt like a routine that I just didn't want to break.  I didn't feel like I could go do anything that I wanted to because I felt like it would make him unhappy.  He always wanted me there, and as much as I thought I did too, I started to be more and more unhappy with myself, and that is not healthy.  I feel like the bad guy.  I broke his heart.  I didn't want to, but it was for the sake of finding myself and my future path.  Gosh, I feel like a bitch.

Since then, I have hung out with friends I haven't gotten to hang out with in over a year, and go to shows whenever I want.  I went to a movie documentary night at The Garaj Mahal two days after I did the deed, and one of the movies that was playing was "Finding Joe".  Talk about things that come at you at the most perfect time!  The documentary is basically explaining Joseph Campbell's Hero's Circle which is used in basically any story that you read in books or watch on the big screen that involves a hero type. It takes the hero's circle and compares it to real life because basically in order to find our bliss, the one thing in life that makes us unforgivably happy, we have to go through the hero's circle in order to obtain it.  They kept saying over and over again that the path to finding your bliss most of the time happens after a bad event whether it be a divorce, break up, death, etc.  This movie hit me SO HARD, that I was crying because it is what I needed to hear that the exact right time!  Because of that movie, I am on a quest to find my bliss no matter how far or near it may be.

I went to a couple of other things at the Garaj Mahal.  I went to another movie night that showed a documentary about girls in punk rock, which was awesome!  I went to the really really free market, which I ended up nerding out with a couple of the guys talking about all kinds of cool subjects (Harry Potter and Doctor Who included), I got a couple of cool things including books, a pair of awesome heels that fit, and a skirt which I want to re-purpose into something for cosplay.  I also was taught a couple of poi lessons by Tim (Who is really the coolest and nicest guy ever!), and I got to spin my rifle a little bit as well.

I started spinning my rifle and flag again.  I forgot how much I miss just spin my frustrations out.  It is so therapeutic.  I doubt I will ever do a drum corp anytime soon, but I would love to do one in the near future, so I have to train my muscles up again if I ever decide to go for it.

On the 10th of June, I decided to follow a ten plus year dream of mine.  I joined a roller derby team.  I am not that great.  I knew coming into it I would have to relearn how to balance on skates, I would have to learn to fall, and that I would be sucktastic when I went into the building.  With all of that said, I am having the time of my life.  It is so much fun being on skates again, and I feel like I have found something that I really enjoy doing.  It is a big thing for me to say that I am not the best in the room, and be perfectly okay with it.  And it's not like I am going to suck forever!  I will push myself to get better and improve, and I will be the best that I can be!  Now let's just hope that I do not fall on my ass again.  I don't know if I will be able to survive another fall like that again. haha

The last major thing that has happened in my life since is I went to an event called Mochi Day which was a day to celebrate Anime and video games, and I did something that I totally did not expect to happen what-so-ever... I met a guy.  Why the universe wants to work this way, I don't know, but it happened, and I'm not upset about it.  Mochi Day happened on the 15th (Which is a week and a day ago from this blog post.).  I just went to take lots of pictures in hopes of building up my portfolio, buy some awesome nerd merch (Which so totally happened), and make some friends because I love making new friends.  His name is Dado (That's his nickname.)  He was one of the first people to talk to me when I entered the building, and throughout the day we had multiple conversations, and we just clicked.  I took pictures of him trolling people, and we just hung out.  He is very sweet, and quite the gentleman.  I was very shocked when he asked me out because I am not used to guys asking me out in person.  In the past couple of years, I have only had guys ask me out online.  It was very refreshing to have that happen for once.  We had our first date Tuesday, and it was amazing.  I feel like we have a lot in common, and that we connect.  I am excited to see how this relationship works out.  We have our second date tomorrow, and I am super stoked!!!

So that is basically is it from me for now.

I love you all, and I hope you all are having a great day!!!

Best wishes, and DFTBA!

50 States of Indie: An opportunity for authors and promoters to work together!

SideStreet Cookie Publishing is rolling out a long-term promotional opportunity for indie authors. We're calling it 50 States of Indie. We're looking for at least one promoter in each state to represent indie authors in their community. Your job is simple. Indie's will send you book swag to put in your local bookstores and paperbacks to donate to your library system. The goal is spread the word across the country about indie authors.

But that's not all. We are also looking for authors who want to get their name out there, and who doesn't? Author's will be responsible for their own orders, postage, and shipping, but it's otherwise free promotion!

If you're interested please contact Tyffani Clark, at Tyffani (dot) C (dot) Kemp (at) gmail (dot) com with your name, address, email, phone number, and whether you are a promoter, and author, or both!

BEDA 2013 #29: Some people...

Two more day of Blog every day April!!!  I am sad, but oh so relieved.  I am starting to run out of things to talk about, and I feel like I am repeating a lot of stuff now.

I have a story for you all tonight.  I was at work, and this couple walks in.  The girl in the couple was wearing a shirt that had the Hogwarts crest on it.  In my mind I was saying "Yes!  A fellow Potterhead!".  So as she was walking up to the usher stand, Me being a Potter fan, I asked her, "Which house are you in?"  She starts freaking out looking at her ticket probably thinking that I asked her which theater are they in.  I thought she misheard me, so I replied with, "I was referring to your shirt, which house are you in."  She grabbed at her shirt so she could look at it and said, "Oh I don't know what this is, I just thought it looked cool."....... WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?  You bought a shirt of something you know nothing about.  I should have asked her if she had ever heard of Harry Potter, or said something along those lines, but I just let it go because I felt like it was a wasted cause.  I could have taught her the wondrous ways of Harry Potter, but they probably wanted to watch their move.  They also went to see Pain and Gain, so I lost hope.  I don't get how people could just wear something that obviously has a story behind the picture, but not know or not want to know what it is about.  The fact that she had no idea what Hogwarts was, just made me sad.  The worst part about it is I know where she got that shirt.  She got it at Kohl's, and it is hanging right underneath a Justin Bieber shirt in the juniors department.  Yep.  That's my little rant.

Moving on.  We got a Star Trek Into Darkness Standee in today, and Cooper, Katie and I got to build it.  That was pretty fun actually.  It is probably the easiest standees I have had to help make.  It was tall though, so that was the only problem.  It was funny because Coop was trying to flip it would be easier for us to attach the 3D effect piece on, and he started to walk backwards.  He got really close to the back piece, and I thought he was going to miss it, but he stepped on the first flap that was closest to him, and stepped right on the other flap causing it to rip in two places.  It was funny because he was like where were you two at.  I said, you said you had it, so I thought it was safe to think you had it.  It is too funny working with him.  Me and Katie were laughing.

Today's song is "Her Words Destroyed My Planet" by Motion City Soundtrack.  I need to start getting ready for Warped Tour and listening to the bands I want to see, and this is one of the bands I am super excited about seeing live!!!  I hear amazing things about them live, and I love their music, so it is going to be a blast seeing them!

Well until tomorrow, and the very last day of Blog every day April!

BEDA 2013 #28: Eh.

Today has been a pretty lazy day for me.

I slept in until 1 o'clock which I normally hate, but I felt like my body needed the extra rest.  Why, I don't know, but I woke up feeling great! :)

I just read a lot!!!  I got a good chunk of the Legend of Zelda Hyrule Historia taken care of, and I got about sixty more pages of The Great Gatsby out of the way.  I was usher tonight at work, so it helped me get through the Great Gatsby.  I love being able to read at work even if it is a couple of pages.  It helps me to not get cranky at work when I work with people I don't like.  I tend to have trouble reading at work when I work with people I do like because I am having conversations and just enjoying the company.  It is very rare that I don't work with at least one person that I like, so it is very hard for me to read anything unless I am put up at the usher stand.  I tend to breeze through books when I am up there.  And to think that I used to hate being usher.  Though of course that was when I wasn't aware that I could have a book up there, and that was also at the time when I liked all of the people I worked with.  I also had a big thing for not wanting to be alone at that point as well.  It was weird.

Anyway.  I just got home from work, and I need to edit a video for tomorrow, and I also need some sleep.  Patrick and I will be going to the insurance place to figure out if anything new has come up about his settlement.  He also has to call the towing company, and have his car towed to his garage, and then we have to go and fill out his graduation forms.  After that I am hoping that we will get to go to the Greenville HPA meeting at the library!  I am excited that I have finally been able to find an Harry Potter Alliance group in the area.  I tried making one in 2010 in Easley.  I asked a bunch of people if they would be interested in joining, but nobody responded, so I gave up on the idea for a while.  Apparently it had formed just a couple of months ago, so I am not too late in finding it.  Again, I am super happy!

Since I talked about the Harry Potter Alliance, I thought it would be very fitting to play a Wizard rock song for today.  It is "The Weapon" by Harry And The Potters.  This song is basically one of the songs that embody the Harry Potter Alliance as a whole!  It is one of those songs that make you want to sing along once you hear the opening chord.  I love it, and I always look forward to hearing it.  It is one thing to hear a recording of it, and another to hear Harry And The Potters play it live.  It is an amazing experience hearing it live, and if you ever get the chance to see them live, DO IT!!!  They have an amazing live show, and it is by far one of my favorite shows ever!  I got to see them at a library show, and it was cool because it was right before Leaky Con, and I got to go see it with my friend Jordan who I was in the Final Battle with, and it was awesome getting to hang out with her before the con!  I also got to see my friend Keith before the con, and Harry year four had a red and gold saxophone, and it was awesome!  This version of the song is from Prophecy.

Until tomorrow, Just know that the weapon we have is love!

BEDA 2013 #27: Read-A-Thon Fail

My skin is still really really soft from yesterday!

I am kind of failing at doing to read-a-thon.  I haven't even started, and I only have a couple of hours before I go to work, so I might only get a little bit of reading to do.  I wish the read-a-thon happened on a day that I wasn't working.  I might just have my own read-a-thon on my next day off.  I can read for 30 minutes, and take a break to either clean, or figure out my make-up for Misti-con.  I hope to get a couple of pages read at work as well when we hit some down time and I am finished my top of the shows list.  I just need to read!  Besides The Hyrule Historia that I read at night before bed, I have started the Great Gatsby.  I am enjoying what I have read so far, and I am hoping to have it finished before the movie comes out.  If there is ever a movie to come out that is based off of a book, I like to read the book first if I can.  I sometimes wait until the last minute, and miss getting to see the movie in theaters which sucks, but what can you do.  This time I started it a couple of weeks before it comes out, and since it is only one hundred and eighty something pages, I should be finished before it comes out.  I would also like to be finished with it before I go to Misti-con as well, and if I am super motivated, I would like to be finished with it before this month ends.  That is my ultimate goal for it.  That way I have more than just two books to showcase in my book wrap up video for April.  I have kind of slacked off with my read.  It's not that I am getting tired of reading, it is just that I have a lot on my mind with Misti-Con, and getting ready for that, and also helping Patrick with various things related to his wreck.  On days where we both have time to do things together, I would rather drive around in my car, than have him drive the Bronco that he is using until he can get a better car.  I don't want to make him have to pay 70 dollars to fill up his gas tank.  He has helped me a lot, and I want to help him as well.

Eric is very sore from the seminar last night.  I am glad that he had fun, and that it was worth going.  It was definitely worth it for me, and I am pretty sure if you read my blarg yesterday, you know all about how I enjoyed Lush.  haha  I think I might be annoying my mom with how much I am talking about it, but it was awesome, and I really want to take her to one of those stores, so we can get free facials and hand massages.  I think she would love it.  She has a problem with harsh smells like I do, and it gives us headaches when it is too strong and bothersome.  I feel like she would love it because the smells are natural.  There are no harsh chemical smells in that store.  It was very pleasant, and not over baring to my senses.  She would love it.  :)  Mom, if you are reading this, I am taking you and soon!

Today's song is "Walking on Air" by Kerli!  I love Kerli, and this video was my first time ever seeing her.  The moment I saw the video, I had to get her album, and it is still to this day one of my favorite albums!  She is an amazing songstress, and has a dreamy, soothing, and enthralling voice, and her songs just make me happy.  I get hints of Bjork sound in her voice, and that is what made me so interested in her, and it just makes me smile.  It is just so awesome to know that there are honest hard working people in the music industry making amazing content and putting their souls into the music and on the line for their art.  She is one of those that use her talents for good, and it is just awe inspiring.  I also love her style.  Whoever tries and say she is trying to copy Lady Gaga need to check the dates.  This video came out two years before Lady Gaga was ever on the music scene.  I hope you all enjoy the music video as much as I did when I saw it in 2003.  I am a moon child for life, and maybe when you watch it you will become a fellow moon child as well.

Until tomorrow
